Date: Thursday, November 21, 2025
Time: 3:30 PM–7:00 PM
Location: Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, Belgrade/hybrid
The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory is pleased to announce a seminar dedicated to The Invention of Modern Design in the Age of Monopoly Capitalism: A Historical-Materialist Analysis of the Early German Werkbund by Patrik Schumacher, soon to be published as part of the Khōrein Book Series.
The book offers a detailed historical-materialist analysis of the early German Werkbund, exploring how art, industry, and capital together shaped the ideology of modern design in the early twentieth century. The seminar will open a broader discussion on the relationships between architecture, capital, and aesthetics, as well as on how Khōrein addresses these intersections through contemporary theoretical approaches and historical analyses.
The discussion will feature members of the Khōrein Editorial Team, together with colleagues from the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory and the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade.
This event is co-organized by the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory (IFDT) and Arhitekta Forum.
